How we give
The New Testament gives us three attitudes that are to accompany giving:
Giving should be generous: generosity in the Bible is not measured by how much we give, but by how much we have left.
Giving should be sacrificial: giving sacrificially means giving what we can’t afford to give.
Giving should be cheerful: giving cheerfully means giving willingly and not under compulsion.
These principles are clearly set out in the three most important chapters on money in the New Testament: 2 Corinthians 8-9 and 1 Timothy 6.
If you would like to give to the work at Christ Church Umhlanga please bear these principles in mind.
Our financial books are audited externally annually. Since we have an open-book policy any member is free to see our books or meet with our treasurer. We also have a finance committee that reports regularly to the church council.
